Steve Neumann (7/18) —
I had purchased a 73 Rhodes 88 stage piano site unseen and was happy with the condition. After a year or two I wanted to restore the sound and tune back to spec. I researched via internet to find the best tech out there and only one name came up, That was Peter. I drove the piano from Detroit to Peters shop and was impressed upon the first meeting. He immediately starting reviewing and inspecting. He informed me of the pluses and minus with my unit and instructed me on what we can do and needed to do. He explained the process and the expected results. He was a joy to talk with and showed nothing but professionalism along the way. Peter Kept me informed thru the 2 week process with updates and status. Upon pickup my piano sounded like it just came off the production line...
It was perfect and again we went thru the process of what was completed.
I am thoroughly impressed with the service and work and would highly recommend Peter.
We continue to stay in touch as I search for Clavinet to add to my stable...
He as offered to help thru the process and can't thank him enough.

Peter did a great job restoring my Rhodes Mark 1 Eighty-Eight! He was always accessible to answer any questions I had, and constantly sent me updates and photos of the "in-process" work. He was even able to track down a set of brand new legs, as my original Rhodes did not have any legs with it. It sounds better than ever and is an absolute joy to play. I highly recommend Peter and the skillful work he provides.
Thom Zeyl (6/17) —
Peter did such a fantastic job with my 88 rhodes suitcase. Time was not friendly to my piano and it needed some amp work. Both the speaker cabinet and piano turned out looking clean and brand new. The amp was restored and sounds great. The piano is impeccable. The tone and the tuning is spot on. I had lots of variation in the action of the keys which are all now leveled and each note plays equal in sound.
Again I can't thank Peter enough for taking his time doing this and keeping these vintage machines going for years more. I would highly recommend to anyone.

Electronic Edge transformed my 1975 Rhodes Mark I into a brand new instrument. Peter Hayes is a fantastic craftsman that pays attention to every detail. A true vintage keys master. The Rhodes looks and sounds amazing! The work done exceeded all of my expectations.
Christopher Bosca (9/15) —
Peter is a great guy and in my opinion, there is no reason to trust anyone else with your Rhodes piano. Unfortunately, I am really not a player, but I do know what an inspiration it is to play an instrument that is perfectly set up. This is what Peter does. Trust me, you can trust him.
Marc Vivonetto —
By far the best technician since "The Mysterious Buz Watson" to ever grace this 1972 Stage Fender Rhodes. Its a pleasure to know your instrument is not only in good hands but seasoned as well. This guy knows exactly what he is doing from restoration all the way to modification. No matter what part of the states I'm in, my keyboard will always make the trip to Yellow Springs for any future repairs or modifications...A Special Thanks again to Peter the "Mad Scientist" of Keys!
Marcus Schoen —
Unbelieveable! Had a near complete overhaul and it sounds amazing. I would recommend Peter to anyone in the midwest. Great guy, and he knows how to make these sing!
Leland Sloan —
I took my 2 beloved clavinets (named Billy Jean & Ophrah, aka ""The Girls") to be refurbished. Peter restored the girls to their original beautiful sound and appearance. I use both in the studio and they sound great! My hats off to you Peter, you did and exellent job on the girls. You kept me me informed of the progress and there were no surprises. Thanks again!
Kendall Martin Babl —
Peter did a beautiful job restoring my Rhodes and has always been easily reachable when I've had questions. He even coached me through replacing a snapped tine hours before a show. Electronic Edge isn't just a service, it's a resource.
Jessica Kinzer —
Peter of Electronic Edge is amazing. I have a killer 1975 Rhodes bass thanks to his knowledge and expertise. When I needed to have it restored, Peter got me into the shop very quickly, and superbly finished the job in a timely manner. I would recommend his work to anyone, and am proud to have the Electronic Edge seal on my instrument! Rock n'Roll!
Jay Singer —
I'm lucky that Peter is only a relatively short distance from my home in Ohio. Finding someone to service my Rhodes, especially with competence and expertise, isn't a little thing. It makes my funky antique a great addition to my keyboard 'arsenal'. I wanted a 'stretch' tuning, voicing, and maintenance. Peter provided all three in spades!
John Menas —
Peter is the best! I found him through my online research and I can say that all of the positive reviews were accurate. We drove 3 hours, one way, to have Peter evaluate our Stage 73. He took the time to carefully look things over and we agreed that we would bring our Rhodes back as close to original as possible.
After evaluation, he called to explain all that was needed. New grommets, a pick-up,, cosmetic pieces, a tolex touch up, intonation and action work. He also suggested reversing some very strange wiring. What was the previous owner thinking and why did they allow a mouse to take up residence inside? Looks like we needed some new felt as well.
This was a project indeed, but I believe we have a responsibility to keep older instruments alive and we agreed to move forward.
Now that the work is done, it's great. I had no idea how much better it could be, but now I know. Peter is a gentleman, an honorable businessman and a craftsman. If your Rhodes needs work, look no further.
Bryan Russell —
Great service, I was really happy that he took time to give me all the options, cost breakdowns, and details about my instrument. I'd definitely recommend Peter Hayes to anyone needing rhodes service.
Peter Morelli —
I got tired of patching together vintage instruments and hoping they would cut it for professional performance. To do it right and get a Hohner D6 playing beautifully and sounding professional, this guy, Peter Hayes of Electronic Edge, will do the job and do it very well - thanks so much Peter!....(wasn't a big deal to ship the D6 to and from Electronic Edge...Peter knows clavinets inside and out...great communication and updates on the work, and great turn around - took my D6 to a whole new level)
Clifford Cash: from The Bahamas —
My Clavinet arrived last night. I took it in the studio, put a battery in and ran it into an old Fender twin.
Fantastic! Was so worth the wait, you did an awesome job.
Thanks again and I will be recommending you to friends.

It's easy to tell that restoring classic equipment is Peter's true passion. He is an expert with Fender Rhodes who cares greatly about customer satisfaction. Not only did he fix the problems that I told him to fix, but he cleaned the Rhodes out and fixed some other minor problems at no extra cost. Peter also offered to show me how to do some of the repairs myself so I wouldn't have to spend money on fixing it again!...A true professional who cares more about the customer than anything. THANK YOU.
Greg Wascak —
Just want to say thanks again for the great job on the Clavinet. I've had it at practice a few times and it's been amazing. Playing it out soon and looking forward to it.
Eric Selner —
I had 3 Rhodes (2 stage and 1 suitcase) in total repaired by Peter Hayes at ElecEdge. They were all in pretty bad shape to start - needing tines, grommets, electronics, and cosmetic work done. The cosmetic work looks great - as if it were brand new. The sound is also great. Both Rhodes stage pianos had slight buzzes before being repaired but are now crystal clear. I've been able to record both and have gotten great results. Peter was easy to deal with and very responsive. I highly recommend ElecEdge.
Rick Reger —
After a very frustrating experience trying to buy a piano from another tech, I contacted Peter Hayes at Electronic Edge about getting a Stage Mark II. My experience was great. He was straightforward, helpful and kept me well informed. The piano I received had a minor issue that was quickly resolved with Peter's responsive help. The piano he worked on for me now looks and sounds great, and I know I can always go to him for questions and assistance.
Mike Fritz —
Peter did an excellent job restoring my '79 Mark II both inside and out. It looks awesome with the new hardware and the rebuilt amp has plenty of power. Peter has an eye for detail and it was 100% worth every penny.
Greg Soldano —
Peter-I just wanted
to say thanks for the excellent work done on my Wurly; it plays
and is as quiet
as the proverbial church mouse. Quite honestly I don't know how
you do it-but please keep it up. You'll be seeing my Rhodes soon;
I wouldn't go anywhere else! Thanks again for all your effort
Jason Hills — Indianapolis Indiana
Peter is the ultimate when it
comes to making the old new. He completed an awesome "interior" restoration of my 73 Fender Rhodes
that I couldn't be more pleased with. The growling lows and bell
like highs couldn't be sweeter. He was especially patient as my
Rhodes had to have an extended stay with him. No other tech will
ever touch this instrument. Trust this man - you will not be disappointed,
neither will your piano. Blessings.
Hi Peter, As far as I'm
concerned, say whatever you like about these. I think the gearheads
among our fans will be thrilled to learn about it
all. You did a great job! Thanks again,
Tim (Tim Rice-Oxley)
“...thanks very much for stepping up to the plate on this “weird,
difficult, bizarre” request - you really came through
for us and helped to finally complete an incredibly important
of the Keane stage.”
Cheers, Geoff Kakoschke. (Programming / Keys / IT – Keane)

“Peter Hayes at Electronic Edge can work wonders with a rhodes inside and
out! If you’re a pro and on a deadline, every effort is
made to accommodate your schedule with NO effect on quality of
work. If you want
a truly unique
rhodes, visually and audibly, check for the cats at Electronic Edge.”
Tim Daniels —
Peter recently refurbished my MK1 suitcase piano. The piano now looks and sounds better than new! The sound is amazingly rich, I'm so impressed. You can tell just by looking at the piano the care and attention to detail that Peter put into it. The piano now resides in my family room and is such a joy to play. Thanks so much Peter.
Jimmy Nutt —
I took my Rhodes 88 to 2 other repair shops before hearing about Peter. I was not satisfied with the work that they did.
Peter did an amazing job getting all the notes to ring properly and tuning the keyboard.
I am VERY happy with the work the Peter did on my Rhodes.
He also went the extra mile to help me fix my pedal.
I recommend him highly.
Stephen Kabat —
Peter was friendly, easy to work with, professional, did great work, what more could one ask for?
Murshim — Kuala Lumpur
“Peter Hayes’s work, service and attention to detail is second
to none. He recently completed a red stage MK II for me, almost similar
to what’s in his website but with added pre amp and some killer knobs,
--packed, shipped and received immaculately. Please note that I only know
emails. Worldwide service? You bet! I’m all the way from MALAYSIA. Peter
is a class act!”
On his Stage 73... “Man, it’s like a brand-new instrument! Thanks again
for doing such a great job.”
Roger W Etheredge — Northport, AL
“Peter Hayes of Electronic Edge is a Master Fender Rhodes/Hohner Clavinet
guru/surgeon. Peter is THE MAN when it comes to Vintage Keyboards.
am a shameless music snob. I contend that the keyboards produced in
the 60s & 70s are
the best sounding rigs built to date. When it comes to restoring these
fine instruments, Peter Hayes is without peer.
The man is a surgeon! Peter has restored for me: (2) 73 key suitcases,
an 88 key suitcase, a 73 key stage, a sweet '67 Piano Bass, 2 pairs of
Fender Rhodes Satellites, and 3 Hohner D6 Clavinets!!! Send your ailing
Fender Rhodes to Peter and receive a work of art, a Beautiful tone machine
in return. Peter will insure the survival and prosperity of these precious
instruments.” Roger W Etheredge, Ph.D.
Alan B. Winter —
“Peter is the guru of the Rhodes techs...he is extremely knowledgeable
of any aspect of Rhodes repair, be it voicing, regulation, or even recovering
in any color of Tolex. He is extremely passionate about the instrument,
and will take any time necessary to discuss what the customer wants of his Rhodes.
Mk2 Suitcase 73 is now a mint jewel, thanks to Peter. Highly recommended
Jeff Peiffer —
“Peter is a very straightforward and down-to-earth guy. Dealing with him
was a good experience, and what he did to my Rhodes was amazing. He’s really
got the expertise and the experience too. I definitely recommend anyone that
can to have him work on your Rhodes.”
Michele Montecucco —
“I live in Italy and I know Peter only by email!! I bought via internet
a refurbished 1974 73 Stage Piano that Peter made sound and look great. During
his work Peter sent me pictures showing what he was doing to the piano so I could
follow the work in progress. Shipping was ok, with no problems and no “surprises”.
What about the cost? I think I paid for it the right price: now I own a “brand
new” Rhodes. Great job, Peter!”
Mark Ross —
“I’m a technician in Los Angeles. A Rhodes recently arrived in my
shop that had been restored by Peter. His cosmetic work was impeccable. He does
top notch retolexing and hardware replacement.”
“Peter did wonders for my stage 73, It has never sounded better. It took me
about 3 hours to drive to his place but it was well worth it and i will do
if need be. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my rhodes.”
Emilio RL —
“Peter has the rare combination of kindness, knowledge
and mechanical expertise, unparalleled in the world of vintage keyboard
only would I recommend him. I would recommend him over anyone else.”
Phil Ford —
“I bought a Rhodes stage 73 from Peter Hayes — the “Rat Fur” custom
featured on the website. It looks cool, doesn’t it? And
it sounds and
plays as nice as it looks. The Rhodes piano is a great instrument,
expressive and soulful, and it’s a shame they aren’t
made any more. Getting a rebuilt Rhodes from Peter is the closest
get to buying a new one off the showroom floor. By the way, I
had mine shipped across the country and it arrived in perfect
shape — Peter
takes good care of his instruments and his customers.”
Louis Romestant — Akron,
“It would never occur to me to have anyone but Peter Hayes work on my instruments.
He did a beautiful job on my Stage 88. I had the pleasure of visiting
his shop and I was impressed with the work he’s done for others. Rhodes,
Wurlies, Clavinets and more — all looking good, sounding great
and smooth as butter. He’s fast, reasonably priced and friendly.
He answers questions and provides good information on follow up care
I have two more Rhodes, Stage 73s, and he’ll be the only guy
who touches them. Check him out. —Louis”
